The Fulham Kitchen, Larder, Bar & Book Shelf
“When we had our initial meeting with Luke I was so excited but I must have thrown a millions ideas at him! Thankfully Luke took it in his stride and was able to understand my vision and extensive wish list and he came back with a great design mixing and matching elements from their kitchens to create our bespoke design.”
The Design
We recently completed this lovely open plan kitchen for a lovely family near Fulham in London. The two-toned green kitchen looks incredible in any light, from the sleek lines of the cabinets and the symmetry of the space, to the large island and bar just off the kitchen, we had such a lovely time designing this kitchen with our wonderful client.
The main run features a run of lower cabinets with floor to ceiling cabinets on either side followed by a fridge freezer and a book case. There is a large island in the middle, which perfectly fits the space in between the dining table and living room.
“I had followed Herringbone Kitchens on social media for a couple of years and loved their ethos and style. I love to cook and bake and we spend most of our time in the kitchen so a bespoke kitchen that was designed especially for us and our lifestyle was a dream scenario.”
The kitchen is designed in our Rye Style and bespokely fitted to perfectly fit into this large kitchen extension.
The Details: Colours, Hardware, Worktops Etc
This kitchen has extraodinary attention to detail, maximising the space to its full potential. The drawers have been created in a bespoke manner to store cuttlery, pots and pan, tupperware etc. The floating shelf and splashback seamlessly fit the material and look of the Quartz work top and makes the green colour of the kitchen come to life.
“There was great attention to final details, the tongue and groove on the end panels, the exact mix of knobs, pull cups and handles, and the addition of extra storage under the island that is so useful for items like vases, and jugs that you need but not on a daily basis. Another of my favourite features are the cupboards set into the pillars either side of the AGA. It means I can keep oils, and cooking ingredients close to hand but neatly stored away.”
The brushed brass handles look stunning against the cabinets and colour. This mix of a classic shaker style kitchen and modern elements, such a flat fronted drawer fronts and square pelmets, really bring the bespoke design to life.
The Larder
The large double larder and storage unit is as elegant and stylish as it is functional. Its pocket doors on one side make it convinient for the larder to be open when in use without being knocked about and the spice racks on the other side create great organised storage.
The cold shelves across both make it easy to wipe down any mess and it is fitted with plugs to allow for easy use of white goods etc.
“One of our main priorities and high on our wish list was to have a spacious larder cupboard (or 2 in the end) as we are a family of 6 and need lots of storage space for food.”
The Bar
This beautiful bar and dresser is a real wow-factor in this space. Not only does it connect the kitchen and the living space but it also looks stunning as a piece of furniture in its own right. The rippled bi-fold doors are beautifully crafted and makes for a smooth user experience.
“Our main fitter James was an absolute super star and his workmanship and attention to detail was second to none.”
On Using Herringbone
“Even nearly a year on I still walk into the kitchen and think wow! I love that it is perfect for us. There is a place for everything from small appliances to a built in rack for the baking/oven trays to a dedicated snack drawer which is the children favourite.“
